The University Startups
Conference is the only conference series dedicated solely to the
creation and funding of all types of high-impact
university startups . The Conference is co-organized by the
NIH, NSF and NCET2. This year's
University Co-Hosts are the University of
Maryland and the University of
California. The venture capital sponsors are the National Venture Capital Association and the Strategic Venture
Association.
The University Startups Conference is a unique event to discuss cutting-edge
practices and current developments in startup creation and funding. With an
amazing 8% of university startups going public, university startups represent an
important part of the U.S. innovation economy and a unique wealth generation
opportunity.
At this year's University Startups Conference:
- Meet and talk with VC, angel and corporate funders of innovation
- Hear from the people who are really funding startups
- Discover what those investors are really looking for when funding your
startups
- Learn about university-based early stage commercialization funds
- Learn how to create your own University Angel Group to fund your startups
and bring back wealthy alumni to your school (in a pre-Conference workshop)
- Learn how a business plan competition can motivate faculty and students,
and create a nexus for entrepreneurial activity at your institution
- Discuss with other university officials what works and what doesn't, who's
funding and who's not
- Discover what the federal funders of university research are looking for
in commercialization efforts
- Hear what state government is doing to help the innovation economy
The University Startups Conference is a must attend event for those
people serious about creating a regional center of innovation, commercializing
federally-funded research, and successfully creating and funding high-impact
university startups.
